Stygian unfolds an abstract psychological journey through dedication and obsession — where balance is lost, and found again.

Stygian is the result of a nine-year collaborative practice in music and juggling research by Onni Toivonen and Konsta Leinonen. In its creation, we focused on ambient soundscapes, the deep rumblings of bass, and how these sonic elements influence the material and rhythm of juggling.

We felt a strong urge to create something that captures the full emotional range of object manipulation.

The name refers to the River Styx — the mythical boundary between the world of the living and the afterlife in Greek mythology. Stygian, however, is not inspired by the gods themselves, but by the darkness and liminality of Styx.
